If you remember in chapter 3, being dominant is an asset that will allow you to be on top of any conversation. However, it is one thing to have a strong personality. It is a completely different matter to have an equally strong social standing. Your status in life has a huge say on how far you are going to climb up the social ladder. Because of this, you must work to get high status.

Some might try to dismiss or at least minimize the impact of status in the dating game, but the truth is that there’s no getting around the fact that you need to have high status to be considered a legit alpha male. This is because everyone, including the ladies, are magnetized towards men who have high value. Whether it is in terms of their physical prowess (looks, athleticism) or in terms of their extrinsic value (connections, net worth), it’s natural for women to seek those who have the status.

1. Our status gets us respect- Respect is a tough thing to acquire. While theoretically you can earn it if you get the chance, getting that chance is often predicated to first impression. One of the best ways to get that first impression is by having high status. Remember during school when kids who get high grades tend to get passes on particular class activities? The same thing is in work here. If you have earned high status, respect is almost automatically given even without much of a second look.

2. More opportunities- It is natural for people who have much and achieved a lot to get first take on a lot of opportunities in life. Sometimes, it’s just simply how life works. For example, if you’re going to hire a driver, you’d rather hire someone who knows how to drive and has plenty of experience in driving all kinds of vehicles, wouldn’t you? The same thing applies to a lot of social entities ranging from companies to women. At face value, they would rather have someone who has desirable characteristics and a strong reputation.

3. It helps in building your network- Meaningful connections are not easy to build by any means. However, having strong social status makes it much easier for you to create them. Winners like being around winners. Those aspiring to become winners like being around them too. As such, it’s almost natural to see people establish connections with those who have established themselves in one way or another. With people actually recognizing who you are, the task of actually building a strong network becomes much easier.

4. It helps in retaining loyalty- This is another aspect wherein high social status helps immensely. People tend to be more loyal to people who they deem are worth following. This is where one’s status comes into the picture. Those who have high social status, especially those who have retained them for a long time, are more likely to retain their allies despite turmoil.
